How RH Nuttall Make PVC in the UK
PVC is made through melding molecules of monomer together to make a polymer – a synthetic material made from larger-than-normal molecules.
To make PVC, you create chloride by starting with a batch of salt water. You pass an electrical current through that water and then combine it with ethylene – a gas. This changes your chlorine into vinyl chloride.
Lastly, the vinyl chloride monomer goes through the polymerisation process, where those molecules form into strands, which then take on the PVC characteristics. From this point, manufacturers can add other materials to create the desired finish.

PVC in Solid or Flexible Form
RH Nuttal Limited produces resilient PVC plastics both in flexible and hardened form. The unique qualities of this type of plastic allow us to shape it to the customer’s specifications. It can either be flexible enough to mould or it can be tough and firm, unbending. The density of the PVC resin plus the other components we add to it to change that density.
Flexible PVC is an excellent material for solutions with air flow draughts. Hard PVC can be easily shaped using laser cutting machines, drills, and other tools which RH Nuttall Ltd experts are familiar with. PVC can be supplied in a solid form or a flexible state dependent on customer requirements.
