Closed cell silicone sponge gaskets

Silicone sponge gaskets are currently supplied in either dark grey or white colours, and are available in nearly any thickness from 1.5mm right up to 25mm.

Silicone sponge is a blown variant of its solid version. When air is injected into the cell structure, it naturally becomes a more flexible and malleable material, lending itself to a variety of applications. Whilst remaining in a closed cell in cell structure, Silicone sponge is compressible in nature, meaning that it can be pressed between two surfaces to create a perfect seal. Silicone sponge gaskets are commonly found on cookers, hobs, ovens, and lighting applications. Furthermore, certain grades of our silicone sponge gaskets come with FDA approval, making them suitable for food applications.

Thicknesses of silicone sponge gaskets available

The thicknesses of our Silicone sponge gaskets can be from 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 20mm, right up to 25mm, but this normally depends on our stock of base material at any given time, as well as the density and grade of Silicone sponge required.

Silicone sponge is a very dedicated base material product. It is widely recognised throughout the electrical, automotive, lighting and white goods trades. A more expensive base material than most other common sponge gasket materials due to the unique properties, Silicone sponge is deemed a good choice for applications including lighting fittings, oven seals, cooker hob seals, boiler seals and lighting enclosures.

Silicone sponge gaskets also have a fantastic UV and ozone resistance, meaning that they will not fail over long periods of time being exposed to sunlight or air.

Our standard range of Silicone sponge gaskets are supplied in a medium density, but firm grades, as well as soft grades, of Silicone sponge are also readily available, depending on the application. Firm grade Silicone sponge gaskets are supplied mainly when two heavy surfaces are clamping down onto the gaskets, but only little compression is required to seal. Whereas soft grade Silicone sponge gaskets can be manufactured where little compression is required to make a perfect seal.
