RH Nuttall Limited manufactures and supplies a wide range of PTFE gaskets. PTFE gaskets and PTFE packers can be supplied in any shape, from a simple round or square design to those with numerous holes and slots cut out as part of a bespoke design.

What are PTFE gaskets?

PTFE (an acronym for ‘Polytetrafluoroethylene’) is a high end material capable of working efficiently at both high and low temperatures.

RH Nuttall manufactures and supplies PTFE gaskets for a large number of industrial sectors that include aerospace, automotive, plumbing and mass transit.

These types of gasket can also be found in a wide array of applications from wind turbines to pipeline.

PTFE Gaskets Characteristics

PTFE gaskets are non-stick in nature, lending themselves to joints with moving parts, without tarnishing their appearance. Suitable for low bearing loads as well as high temperature sealing, PTFE gaskets are an excellent choice for pipe gaskets and plumbing applications where certain harsh chemicals may be present.

PTFE gaskets can deal with temperatures ranging from -200°c to +260°c, and the PTFE gaskets we manufacture have great electrical and thermal properties, which provides good chemical resistance and a non-corrosive construction.

Our range of PTFE gaskets and PTFE packers generally come in white, but we can also call on bespoke PTFE materials such as carbon-filled PTFE and glass-filled PTFE from which to manufacture our gaskets.

For example, carbon-filled PTFE can be supplied as charcoal or black PTFE gaskets, and bronze PTFE gaskets are also available from our in-house cutting facility.

PTFE gaskets, although non-stick in nature, can be etched on one side and have an adhesive backing applied, if required. Etched PTFE gaskets are normally supplied with a ‘high-tack’ grab adhesive which, when stuck in situ, enables them to act as perfect glides and runners due to their low coefficient of friction.

Available in thicknesses from 0.1mm, 0.25mm, 0.4mm, 0.5mm, 0.8mm, 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, and 3mm, PTFE is a malleable material that lends itself to being die cut, leaving a near perfect finish.
