At RH Nuttall, our metal gaskets, washers, and shims are primarily manufactured using laser cutting machinery. Laser machines offer high accuracy and can cut a wide range of base materials and thicknesses both fast and precisely. All of our parts are manufactured in-house in Birmingham.
Laser cutting works by using optical fibres that transmit to laser tubes of different wattages integrated within the machine. These lasers heat up and cut the base material to the desired shape according to the drawing provided. CNC-controlled, with highly accurate sensors, the process allows for the production of metal parts at highly competitive prices, with unmatched precision.
The ability to handle both single, intricate requests and multi-thousand batch runs enables RH Nuttall to deliver superior quality products with fantastic turnaround times for our customers.
Common base materials used in our laser cutting machines include steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, and aluminium. We manufacture bespoke items such as brass washers, stainless steel washers, aluminium gaskets, and copper washers and gaskets, all with industry-leading turnaround times.
RH Nuttall utilizes four different types of laser machines, ranging from small, economical 80w tabletop lasers for small batch runs to our larger, flagship 150w fibre lasers, which provide higher accuracy and faster run times.
Computer software is integrated with each laser machine, enabling CAD/CAM drawings to be read and produced to size. The precision of the laser machinery ensures minimal waste of base materials, operating within 0.2mm tolerances, making it perfect for industries like automotive.
Before full-scale production, all metal gaskets and shims undergo rigorous quality tests. Both in-process and final inspections are conducted to ensure the production of high-quality products, all while maintaining our ISO9001:2015 accreditation.
