ABS is a polymerised alloy of the tree materials acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene. ABS is a strong and tough plastic that is used by RH Nuttall Limited in forms of abs washers, abs gaskets, abs seals, and abs strip where high impact resistance is needed. It also has an aesthetically pleasing smooth gloss finish, that is almost scratch resistant, which is important in parts that are visible.
We supply many different industry sectors with ABS parts including the hoover, cosmetic, automotive and architectural hardware trades. As ABS has a higher resistance to chemical attack from weak acids and most alkalis than HIPS, as well as having a higher operating temperature too, it makes it an ideal choice of material for a variety of applications. Adhesive backing can be applied to one or both faces if needed.
- Durable and strong – ABS has a high impact strength as well as abrasion resistance making a suitable material for parts such as home appliances and interior automotive parts.
- Excellent dielectric properties – ABS is a non conducting plastic material that makes it suitable for electrical insulators.
- Good chemical resistance – ABS has good chemical attack resistance from inorganic salt solutions, alkalis and many acids.
- Low water absorption – ABS is a good choice of plastic to select for applications involving water due to its fairly low water absorption properties.
ABS components can be supplied not only in its virgin state, but also with a pinseal/leathergrain finish on one or both sides and can be supplied in a flame retardant grade too. ABS components are available in black or white depending on the finish and thickness required. Ask a member of our sales team for more information. Data sheets can be supplied free of charge upon request.
