At RH Nuttall we pride ourselves on customer satisfaction, and this is the reason behind our ever growing success in the non-metallic washer and gasket trade.
Only yesterday we took a call from a new customer looking for a solution to their classic car engine sealing requirements. Designed to their exact shape, complete with bolt holes to suit, tooling is now in the building and we will be scheduling the pressing of the first batch of 1000 gaskets needed. Having such an economical, yet precise method of tooling, the bespoke shape needed is critical, and much more cost effective than having parts lasered or water jet cut. Made to within tight tolerances from the design supplied by our customer, it enables a perfect size gasket to be manufactured, and no seepage to occur upon assembly, or during running of the car.
The customer required a cost effective, but reliable solution to sealing a plate against oil within an engine compartment of a classic car. Our dedicated and experienced sales team were on hand to suggest oil jointing as the best fit of material, mainly due to the requirement in hand not exceeding 100 degrees Celsius. Also known within the trade as flexoid or Klinger Statite, oil jointing is a plasticized gelatin impregnated material that is cellulose based, and perfect for sealing against fuels and oils.
Our customer was provided with sample swatches, in a variety of thicknesses, of the base material, which we hold in stock, to elicit the best fit for their product. Having these base materials in stock is a major advantage we hold over many other gasket cutters as it allows our customer base to get a feel of exactly what material we propose, before committing to a bulk order. The customer eventually chose to have their bespoke oil jointing gasket manufactured from 0.5mm thickness material, allowing enough body in the material to remain rigid, while simultaneously being discrete in their design.
It was important during the design stage to discuss the constraints and position of the bespoke cut gasket thoroughly, mainly due to the temperature prevail of certain proposed materials. Oil jointing gaskets only offer a maximum operating temperature of 120 degrees Celsius, whereas non asbestos jointing materials, such as Klingersil, can withstand much greater demands. Having the exact requirements from the customer allowed us to select the correct material, as there is no compromise over quality in our opinion.
Just 72 hours from inception, we are proud to say that the gaskets have now been pressed out on one of our four in house automatic travelling head machines. The customer will receive these on a next day service and is extremely pleased with our level of service.
Another case of a family run business that cares about their customers.
