High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS)

HIPS is used by RH Nuttall Limited to produce a range of washers, gaskets, seals, and strips for a variety of applications. HIPS is an inexpensive, but very much a universal material. Lightweight, rigid and mostly known for its high impact strength, HIPS provides a popular choice of material when constant buffering of particular items or components are apparent. We manufacture our HIPS washers and gaskets in a variety of colours ranging from opal, cream, yellow and red, to green, blue, brown and grey. We supply HIPS washers and gaskets to a variety of different industrial sectors including cosmetics, automotive and label tag trades. Adhesive backing can be applied to one or both faces if needed.

General Characteristics

• Excellent rigidity and impact strength - designed for these purposes, HIPS is a suitable material for applications where heavy force or shock is applied over a short period. HIPS has a tensile strength of 46-60MPa. HIPS has a very good dimensional stability making it suitable for applications in low strength structural projects.
• Available in various colours - useful where washers or gaskets need to fit into a certain colour scheme, such as hot and cold indicators on push taps.
• Excellent appearance - HIPS is available in a high gloss finish.
